In line with the plan of the Law Program at the faculty of Human and Social Sciences and in accordance with its outstanding success in attracting students due to its considered curriculum and innovative learning, the orientation week for the first semester of Spring 2023-2024 academic year began on Saturday morning, March 16, 2024. The activities continued for four days with the aim of preparing and acclimating new students to start their studies and integrate into the university community. The schedule included a series of events.
Day 1:
On the opening day, the Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, Dr. Ali Saeed, delivered a welcoming and motivational speech on behalf of the University President, Dr. Mohammed Saad. In his speech, he explained the significance of studying law at “limu”. The directors of the senior administrations (Law Program Director, Registrar, Psychological and Educational Counselor, Director of International Relations and Academic Cooperation, and faculty members in the program) also gave welcome and introductory speeches to the new students, aiming to inspire and familiarize them with the components of their university and encourage them to embark on their academic journey. The Law Program team, supported by outstanding previous students, also conducted a tour introducing the students to the university’s important facilities, such as classrooms, the library, and laboratories.
Day 2:
The Law Program team introduced themselves and explained their administrative roles. They also explained the study system to the new students. Ms. elaf Al-Tuwailib (Educational Supervisor and Student Affairs Officer) presented a detailed presentation about the interactive learning system, which includes e-learning, legal activities, organizing global days, and field trips to courts. This was followed by a presentation by Ms. Amani Al-Sheikhi (Study and Examination Office Coordinator) about the important regulations relating to study and examinations. The day concluded with a workshop conducted by Ms. elaf Al-Tuwailib and the Student Union on the problem-based learning system, where the new students were presented with a legal scenario that included educational objectives related to the progression of crimes.
Day 3:
The Law Program team conducted a workshop for the new students on how to use e-learning and communication tools such as the Moodle platform and email. The students were also instructed to download the Safe Exam browser application, which allows them to take electronic exams securely. Quality specialist Ms. Istibrak Nashad introduced the students to the importance of the Quality Assurance Office’s work and the completion of questionnaires to enhance the quality of learning.
Conclusion:
The orientation week concluded on the fourth day, where lawyer Ali Al-Sa’iti delivered an engaging lecture titled “Presentation and Public Speaking Skills.” The aim was to integrate the students into interactive environments, as these skills are part of the students’ evaluation process and contribute to shaping their legal personalities.
