On a field visit to ancient cities (1)

Last Thursday, June 13, 2024, students of Tourism and Hospitality in the Business Administration program and students of Tourism Marketing in the Marketing program:
from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the International Libyan University, conducted a field visit to the archaeological sites in the cities of Tocra and Tolmitha.

The purpose of this visit was to learn about the history of these archaeological sites, how they are managed and marketed by the official authorities in the country, and to compare and relate what has been studied theoretically.
One of the objectives of this visit was to strengthen the ties between academic institutions and public and private national institutions.

The students went on the field visit, with the presence of academics and tourism supervisors, where a number of personal interviews were conducted with officials in the tourism, antiquities and hotel sectors, and they also conducted field visits to the archaeological sites and inspected them on the ground.

The tourism supervisors provided detailed explanations about the history of the tourism and antiquities sectors, and the hotels in those areas. This has prepared the students for a qualitative shift in the way they think about the economic resources of the country other than oil.

It should be noted that this scientific trip was supervised by:

  1. Dr. Abdulrahman Bushaalah, Head of the Marketing program
  2. Dr. Enas Butanah Tourism and Hospitality Instructor
