In an atmosphere of pride and accomplishment, the launch ceremony of the International Center for Legal Studies, affiliated with the Libyan International University, took place on Saturday, January 1, 2025, in the hall named after the martyr Ahmed Sharif Al-Sanusi. The event was attended by several academics and legal experts.
The ceremony began with an opening speech by Dr. Mohamed Saad, President of the Libyan International University, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the center in enhancing legal research and developing legal professionals in Libya and the Arab world. He also highlighted the university’s role in supporting initiatives aimed at connecting the local legal community with its international counterpart.
Following that, Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Asbali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, delivered a speech about the center’s role in promoting scientific dialogue and collaboration between academics and legal practitioners. He stressed the importance of having a comprehensive legal platform that contributes to addressing contemporary legal issues, asserting that the center will be a beacon for legal research on a global scale.
In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Ben Slim, Executive Director of the center, outlined the features of the International Center for Legal Studies, detailing its vision and aspirations. He noted that the center is backed by a diverse and multicultural Board of Trustees, reflecting its international and inclusive nature. He emphasized that this diversity is not merely a formal advantage but a fundamental pillar in developing cross-border legal research and studies, enhancing the center’s ability to provide effective and relevant legal solutions to the changing global landscape. He also stressed that the center operates as a non-profit platform focused on supporting academic research and fostering collaboration among legal professionals worldwide, free from commercial interests.
In a multifaceted presentation of the center, Mr. Abdul Wahid Al-Lafi showcased the center’s vision, mission, and goals, along with a roadmap for its activities in 2025. He confirmed that the center would organize workshops and training courses aimed at enhancing the efficiency of legal professionals across various disciplines.
Additionally, Mr. Khalid Al-Minfy presented an overview of the center’s website, highlighting its features and how it will serve as an interactive platform for specialists and researchers in the field of law, facilitating access to legal studies and participation in scientific events.
The event was smoothly and professionally managed by Ms. Elaf Etwilp, the evaluation and follow-up supervisor at the center, who facilitated the sessions and organized the event flow, allowing attendees to engage with the speakers and address their questions at the end of the session.
