In the framework of the Libyan International University’s (LIU) commitment to enhancing partnerships with banking sector institutions, supporting the Finance and Banks program, and providing applied educational opportunities for its students, the University organized a field visit yesterday, Monday, December 8, 2025, to Al-Seraj Islamic Bank in Benghazi. The bank is one of the newly established and promising banks in the Libyan financial sector.

This visit was conducted as a requirement for the Financial and Banks Law course.

The visit was coordinated by Mr. Mohamed Al-Khabbaz, a faculty member cooperating with the Finance and Banks program at the University and a member of the Bank’s Compliance Department.

During the visit, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Abbar, an LIU alumnus and a representative of the Bank’s Risk Management Department, delivered a field lecture on International Standards and Regulations, and the Basel Accords. This was followed by an open discussion with the students regarding the practical applications of these concepts in banking operations.

Students were also given the opportunity to tour the bank’s various departments and learn about modern banking mechanisms.

The Libyan International University highly values this constructive cooperation with Al-Seraj Islamic Bank and affirms its continued commitment to supporting applied experiences for its students and facilitating communication opportunities with leading financial institutions in Libya.
